Relativistic Effects in S-wave Quarkonium Decays
The decay widths of S-wave quarkonia (ηc, ηb → γγ and J/ψ,Υ → ee) are calculated on the basis of a quasipotential approach. The nontrivial dependence on relative quark motion of decay amplitude is taken into consideration via quarkonium wave function. It is shown that relativistic corrections may be large (10-50 %) and comparable with QCD corrections.
متن کاملNew predictions for inclusive heavy-quarkonium P-wave decays.
We show that some nonrelativistic quantum chromodynamics color-octet matrix elements can be written in terms of (derivatives of) wave functions at the origin and of nonperturbative universal constants once the factorization between the soft and ultrasoft scales is achieved by using an effective field theory where only ultrasoft degrees of freedom are kept as dynamical entities. This allows us t...
متن کاملHeavy quark hadronic Lagrangian for s-wave quarkonium.
We use heavy quark effective theory ~HQET! techniques to parametrize certain nonperturbative effects related to quantum fluctuations that put both heavy quarks and antiquarks in quarkonium almost on shell. The large off-shell momentum contributions are calculated using Coulomb-type states. The almost on-shell momentum contributions are evaluated using an effective ‘‘chiral’’ Lagrangian which in...
متن کاملHeavy quarkonium decays and transitions in the language of effective field theories
Heavy quarkonium decays and transitions are discussed in the framework of nonrelativistic effective field theories. Emphasis is put on the matching procedure in the nonperturbative regime. Some exact results valid for the magnetic dipole couplings are discussed. INTRODUCTION In the last years the B factories, CLEO and BES have produced a large amount of new data for heavy quarkonium observables...
متن کاملGluon fragmentation into P-wave heavy quarkonium.
The fragmentation functions for gluons to split into P-wave heavy quarkonium states are calculated to leading order in the QCD coupling constant. Long-distance effects are factored into two nonperturbative parameters: the derivative of the radial wavefunction at the origin and a second parameter related to the probability for a heavy-quark-antiquark pair that is produced in a color-octet S-wave...
